EDINBURG — Adan O. Garcia, 88, entered eternal rest on Sunday, January 26, 2014 at Edinburg Regional Medical Center in Edinburg. He was born on February 8, 1925 in San Isidro, Texas to Antonio Garcia and Genoveva Olivarez Garcia. He is preceded in death by his parents; grandchildren, Monica Leann Garcia and Andres Garcia; 3 – brothers and 2 – sisters.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 65 years, Olivia Lopez Garcia; sons, Alberto (Cynthia) Garcia, Eutemio (Dora) Garcia, Hector (Hilda) Garcia, Francisco (Minerva) Garcia and Esteban Garcia; daughters, Azucena (Evaristo) Segura, Elizabeth (Ron) Dowda, Imelda Garcia, Patricia (Joe) Ysassi, Graciela (Miguel) Renteria, Dina (Rigoberto) Ramos, Criselda (Leonel) De Anda and Veronica (Felipe) Pañola; 3 – brothers; 4 – sisters; 40 – grandchildren; 25 – great grandchildren; 1 – great-great grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews.

Adan proudly served his country in the Army during W.W. II. He was a hard worker who instilled strong ethic, values and morals to his family. He loved working, he was a jack of all traits; he enjoyed farming, working on cars as a mechanic and doing body work, carpentry and even operated his own gas stations. He also enjoyed hunting, reading, history and was a great story-teller, but his greatest times were spent with his family. He will be missed by his family and all those whose lives he touched.

The Garcia family will receive friends today, Wednesday, January 29, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street, Edinburg, Texas. Christian services will be held on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Peace with his son-in-law; Pastor Miguel Renteria officiating. Christian burial with military honors under the auspices of V.F.W. Post # 7473 will follow to Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Edinburg. Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers will be Randy Garcia, Rigoberto Ramos, Jr., Marcus Ysassi, Victoria Burgess, Eddie de los Santos and Eutimio Garcia, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Pastor Miguel Renteria and Roberto Carlos Ramos. Funeral services have been entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
