Alicia “Licha” Garza, 93, entered eternal rest on Saturday, November 27, 2010 at Edinburg Regional Medical Center in Edinburg. She was born on December 4, 1916 in San Benito, Texas to Victoriano Melendez and Catarina Hernandez Melendez. She lived in Edinburg most of her life and was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. She was also a member of the choir at Holy Family Catholic Church. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband; Julian Garza and daughter; Rosaura Garza.
Left to cherish her memory is her grandchildren; Miguel Julian (Anna) Garza and Ana B. Garza, great-granddaughters; Michelle, Christina, and Ashley Garza, sister; Santos Alvarado, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The Garza Family received friends on Monday, November 29, 2010 from 4:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with a rosary prayed at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg. Christian mass was held on Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Edinburg. Christian burial followed to Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg. Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers were Ana Garza, Delia Ozuna, Michelle Garza, Christina Garza, Terrie Paz, and Esperanza Salinas. Funeral services were entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
