Alicia "Licha" Martinez, 74, entered eternal rest on Sunday, March 28, 2021 at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen. She was born on a Thursday, June 27, 1946 in Edinburg, Texas to Sabas Martinez, Sr. and Eluteria Leal. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sister.
Licha is survived by her son; Brian Martinez, nephew; Rodney Martinez, brothers; Sabas Martinez, Jr. and Alvaro (Margot) Martinez, numerous nieces and nephews.
She was considered the matriach and mother of her family. Licha lived in Edinburg all of her life and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. She worked at ECISD cafeterias for over 10 years with the Food and Nutrition Program. She loved children and was known to care for many children as a foster parent for over 25 years. She was a strong, nurturing and independent woman who lived life to the fullest. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends and all those whose lives she touched.
Her family will receive friends on Thursday, April 1, 2021 from 3:00 PM - 8:00 PM with a rosary to be prayed at 6:00 PM in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 2, 2021 at 10:00 AM in the Chapel of Peace. Catholic burial will follow to Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, 1701 East Richardson Road in Edinburg. Funeral services have been entrusted to Johnny Garcia, Manager/Funeral Director and staff of Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
