Alma S. Rodriguez, 59, went to rest in eternal peace on August 10, 2013 at Edinburg Regional Medical Center at 1:00 a.m. She lost her 5 year battle to ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). She was born in Edinburg on November 7, 1953 to Martin Silva and Lucia De La Rosa. She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers; Roberto Jaime and Martin Silva, Jr.
Alma is survived by her loving children; Mario Alberto (Marissa) Rodriguez, Sr., Marco Antonio (Crystal) Rodriguez, Alma (Jose) Renteria and Monica (Christopher) Rodriguez-Garza, her soul mate of 15 years Mario A. Garcia, sister; Juanita (Ben “Tio Jr”) Rocha, brother; David (Paula) Silva sisters-in-law; Juanita and Anadelia Silva, uncle; Carlos De La Rosa, 11- grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Alma was a single devoted mother who lived her life as a strong devoted person to her family and was full of life. She was employed with the Edinburg Police Department until her retirement after working there for over 25 years. She was a member of Mujeres Unidas, MADD, Edinburg Crime Stoppers, Inc., nonprofit organization “Una Mano”, RGV – Law Dogs, and owner of Balloons by Am-Bee. Alma helped many people throughout her life and was always there to lend a helping hand, but her greatest joy was spending her time with her children, grandchildren, and family. She will truly be missed by her family and all those whose lives she touched.

Alma’s children would like to give a “Heartfelt Thank You and recognition” to Mr. Ben Rocha & his wife, our mother’s only sister Janie Rocha for always being there all the time.
The family will receive friends today, Monday, August 12, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. -9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn, Edinburg, Texas. Christian Mass will be held Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Edinburg, Texas. Christian burial will follow to Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg. Have the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers will be Mario and Marco Rodriguez,  Jose Renteria, David Valdez, Christopher Garza, and Richard Rocha. Funeral services have been entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
