Amadeo J. Sanchez, 93, entered eternal rest on Friday, July 26, 2019 at Edinburg Regional Medical Center. He was born on Friday, January 1, 1926 in Cipres (Puerto RIco), Texas to Pedro Sanchez and Rita Jasso Sanchez. He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter; Mindita Sanchez, siblings; Pedro Sanchez, Jesus Sanchez, Elia Rodriguez, Herculano Sanchez, Guadalupe Valdez, Maria Longoria, Benita Galvan and Flavia Cantu.
Amadeo is survived by his wife of 47 years; Albarita Moreno Sanchez, children; Andy (Susan Sanchez, Nelda Rohira, Norma Sanchez, Rolando Javier (Olga) Sanchez, Peter (Edgar) Sanchez, Elizabeth (David) Huerta, Amadeo (Irene) Sanchez, Eduardo Sanchez, Rita (Chris) Ochoa and Samantha (Mehmet Sonmezates) Sanchez, sister; Alicia Cantu, 15 - grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren.
Amadeo proudly served his country in the United States Army during WW II. He was a member of the American Legion Post #408 in Edinburg. After returning home, he worked for Gateway Equipment, International Harvester, Carl's GMC, Pharr Vocational School and at Texas Vocational School as a mechanic instructor. Amadeo owned and operated A.J. Sanchez Body Shop in San Juan and San Carlos for several years. He later worked for Nurses that Care as a maintenance worker until he was 82 years. He enjoyed hunting, mechanics, building and a love for horses and the ranch life. He was a jack of all traits and always worked hard for his family.
His family will receive friends Sunday, July 28, 2019 from 5:0 PM - 9:00 PM with a Rosary to be prayed at 7:00 PM in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Catholic Mass will be held on Monday, July 29, 2019 at 9:30 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 501 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Military burial will follow to Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery, 2520 South Inspiration Road in Mission. Funeral services have been entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
