Our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Anita De La Garza Reyna, 92, passed away on Sunday, May 6, 2012 . She was born September 22, 1919 in Mercedes, Texas to Mike and Guadalupe De La Garza and raised in Weslaco, Texas.
Anita graduated from High School in May 1939 and attended Beauty College in Harlingen, Texas where she became a licensed cosmetologist. She owned and operated “La Bonita Beauty Shop” in Weslaco, Texas. On December 22, 1945, Anita married Maximo Reyna, Sr. of Edinburg, Texas.
Anita is preceded in death by her husband, son; Maximo Reyna, Jr., daughters; Ada Benavidez and Gloria Garcia, brother; Alex De La Garza and sister; Eva Hessbrook.
She is survived by her daughters; Maxine Macal, Grace Podolak and Aida Millan, 14 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.
The Family will receive friends today, Wednesday, May 9, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg. Christian services will be held Thursday, May 10, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg. Christian burial will follow to Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen, Texas. Funeral services have been entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg. Visit her obituary at www.ceballos-diaz.com.
