Augustine “Tino” Felix Salinas, 65, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg. He was born on Tuesday, November 27, 1949 in Slaton, Texas to Fidencio Salinas and Juanita Rivera Salinas. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rosa M. Rivera Salinas; brothers, Lenny Salinas, Sr. and Ramon Salinas; and niece, Jessica Lee De Luna.
Tino is survived by his children, Felix Genaro (Mari) Salinas, D’Lina D’Nette Salinas and Vickie Lorena Salinas; grandchildren, Victoria Rose Salinas, Amelia Faith Salinas, Christopher Jordan Salinas, Sebastian Salinas, Daphne Salinas and Monserrath Salinas; great granddaughter, Madeline Lola Salinas; brothers, Lorenzo Salinas and Oscar Salinas; sisters, Martha Ruiz, Jayni Duke, Rosa Linda Salinas, Maria Thelma Clarke, Sylvia Solis, Angie Webster and Helen Reyna; numerous nieces and nephews.
Tino was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and lived in Edinburg all of his life. He worked for the City of Edinburg for 20 years in the water plant department as a supervisor until his retirement in 1990. In his earlier years he played with his brothers in a group “Lenny and the Lucky 6.” He had a love for music and played the guitar, bass, piano and French horn. He gave music lessons for many years. He was a “jack of all traits” and always tried to help others even in his ailing condition. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all those whose lives he touched.
The family will receive friends today, Thursday, August 13, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. -9:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace, 322 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Catholic Mass will be held on Friday, August 14, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 501 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Catholic burial will follow to Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg. Funeral services have been entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
