Carlos De La Rosa, 94, entered eternal rest on Monday, February 7, 2022 at his residence in Edinburg with his family surrounding him. He was born on a Saturday, December 17, 1927 in Edinburg, Texas to Eulalio De La Rosa and Gumecinda Mata De La Rosa. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife; Lydia Garcia De La Rosa and siblings; Damancia (Roberto) Rivas and Lucia (Martin) Silva.
Carlos is survived by his children; Jesse (Deborah) De La Rosa, Carlos Hugo De La Rosa, Sonia De La Rosa and Yvette (Robert) Wilson, grandchildren; John Paul De La Rosa, Matthew Thomas De La Rosa and Christopher David De La Rosa and nieces; Ruby Rivas Ramirez, Oralia Rivas Porras and Juanita Silva Rocha.
He lived in Edinburg all his life and was an usher and parishioner at St Joseph Catholic Church and Sacred Heart Catholic Church. In his younger years he would travel as a migrant worker to help his family. He was an amateur boxer as a young man. He graduated from barber college in San Antonio, TX and was a Master Barber for over 60 years. He enjoyed watching all sports, boxing and baseball, the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros being his favorite teams. Imbued with a strong work ethic led him to become a successful and prominent businessman and a member of the Edinburg Chamber of Commerce. He was also active and well respected in the local political scene. He owned and operated City Barbershop in Edinburg and served all people earning him the title "Man of the People". He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and those whose lives he touched.
His family will receive friends on Thursday, February 10, 2022 from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM with a Rosary to be prayed at 6:00 PM in the Chapel of Peace, Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn in Edinburg, Texas. Catholic Mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 11, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 501 East Kuhn in Edinburg, Texas. Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers will be: John Paul De La Rosa, Jesse De La Rosa, Carlos Hugo De La Rosa and Robert Wilson. Funeral Services have been entrusted to Johnny Garcia, Manager/Funeral Director and staff of Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
