Carmen Ponce, 87, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, August 10, 2013 in Edinburg, Texas. She was born August 28, 1925 in Mission, Texas to Porfirio Cruz and Emilia Marez.
Carmen is preceded in death by her parents, husband; Roel Ponce, Sr., brother; Profirio (Elvira) Cruz, sisters; Gudalupe C. (David) Garcia and Josefina (Guadalupe) Garza.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons; Roel (Doris) Ponce, Jr., Homer (Aniceta) Ponce, and Ruben (Mary Nell) Ponce, daughter; Maria Alicia (Raul, Jr.) Salinas, sister; Socorro Cruz, 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 12 nieces and nephews.
Carmen worked at Grandview Hospital in Edinburg for 40 years. She helped raise all her grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved them unconditionally. She will be missed by all her family, friends and all those whose lives she touched.
The Ponce family received friends Sunday, August 11, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. with a rosary prayed at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg. Christian mass will be held today, August 12, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edinburg. Christian burial will follow to Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen, TX. Funeral services were entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
