David Lopez

December 29, 1953 — February 12, 2010

David Lopez Salinas, 56, died peacefully at his home Friday, February 12, 2010. David was born in Los Herreras, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, to Ernesto Lopez and Felicitas Salinas. He grew up in Sunnyside, Washington. He moved to Edinburg in 1989 to be closer to his family.
He worked mostly as a handy man and devoted a large part of his life to caring for his parents and later, his older brother. David will be remembered for his caring nature and playful teasing. He was a good brother, favorite uncle and cousin. He liked to dole out nicknames, but mostly called everyone monkey. He was a good listener and a good friend who could always make you laugh. He said life was about making good memories and those involving him are usually funny. The tears quickly turn to laughter when we think of him. He will truly be missed by his family, friends and all those who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents and an older sister, Ernestina Partida. He is survived by his brother; Jose Luz (Gabriela) Lopez of Edinburg, sister; Maria (Rafael) Lopez of Edinburg and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family received friends on Sunday, February 14, 2010 from 1:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with a rosary prayed at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg. Christian services were held on Monday, February 15, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home. Christian burial followed to Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg.
