Delfino Rodriguez, 83, entered eternal rest on Saturday, November 20, 2010 at Life Care Hospital - North in McAllen. He was born December 10, 1926 in Mission, Texas to Refugio Rodriguez and Margarita Garcia Rodriguez.
He is prececed in death by his parents, son; Pascual “Duke” Rodriguez, brothers; Sixto Rodriguez, Benevento Garcia, sisters; Claudia Martinez, Petra Rodriguez, Cecilia Jimenez, Esperanza Gonzalez and son-in-law; Lee Griese.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years; Porfiria Rodriguez, sons; Roy (Karen) Rodriguez, Noel Rodriguez, Delfino (Denise) Rodriguez II, David (Kathy) Rodriguez, Robert (Diane) Rodriguez, Richard Rodriguez, Anthony Rogers Rodriguez, daughter; Janie Griese, daughter-in-law; Maria “Betty” Rodriguez, 21 - Grandchildren, 25 - Great-Grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. .
Delfino served his country honorably in the Army and was stationed in Japan during WWII. He was a Boy Scout Master for many years and enjoyed the outdoors. He spent his time looking after his cattle, goats, chickens and other farm animals. His greatest joy was being with his family. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.
Visitation for Delfino was held Tuesday, November 23, 2010 from 2:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg. Christian mass will be held today, November 24, 2010 at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Christian burial and military honors will follow to R.G.V. State Veterans Cemetery in Mission. Funeral services have been entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
