Diego Cavazos

Diego Cavazos, 60, entered eternal rest on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at his residence in Edinburg, Texas. He was born on a Monday, September 21, 1964 in Edinburg, Texas to Jose Jesus Cavazos and Belia Moreno Cavazos. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother; Pablo Cavazos and brother-in-law; Ruben Reyna.

He is survived by his loving wife of 21 years; Delma Fernandez Cavazos, children; Deorica Cavazos, Josiah (Pilar) Cavazos, Israel Alberto “Guero” Tijerina and Alexander Cavazos, sisters; Elodia Reyna, Diana (Arnulfo) Lerma and Maria Guadalupe Cavazos, sister in law; Rafaela Cavazos, grandchildren; Destiny, Trysten, Melanie, Yadira, Darian and Natalia, numerous nieces and nephews as well as his loving and faithful companions, his dog; Tulip.

Diego was an Edinburg High School graduate Class of 1983, worked for 15 years at Border To Border/Ironhorse Transportation. Known to many who knew him as a jokester who occasionally smoked a cigar, enjoyed watching looney tunes, reading and bar-b-queuing. Diego was a Buffalo Bills fan, watched Duck Dynasty and listened to music from different genres, like Hank Williams, Jr. and Metallica. He especially loved spending time with his family.

The Cavazos family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM with a rosary to be prayed at 6:30 PM in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street, Edinburg, Texas. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2025 at 10:00 AM at St. Francis Catholic Church, 215 North Couch Street, Hargill, Texas. Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers will be: Josiah Cavazos, Israel “Guero” Tijerina, Alexander Cavazos, Adam Avila, Luke Esparza, Roy Esparza and Danny Cavazos. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Trysten, Destiny, Darian, Melanie, Yadira, Natalia, Joe-D, Ruben, Domingo “Sonny”, Robin and Caleb. Services for Diego will conclude after the funeral mass. Funeral services have been entrusted to Johnny Garcia, Funeral Director/Manager and staff at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
