Surrounded by loved ones, Dorothy Goebel Brown, 87, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, June 14, 2012 at Retama Manor and Nursing Facility in Edinburg. She was born March 2, 1925 in Missouri to Leland and Ana Goebel.
Dorothy and her husband George retired to Texas from St. Louis, Missouri in 1976 where they lived together until his passing in 1999. Dorothy was an avid hunter, a wonderful cook and a masterful seamstress. Dorothy and George will always be remembered for their neighborly ways on Mary Street. Although she and George had no children of their own, she was a
“mother” to many, especially Marin and Peggy whom, she considered her own. All will dearly miss her.
Special thanks to everyone who so lovingly cared for Dorothy during her lengthy illness at Retama Manor, and to her special “angel” Elida Vasquez.
As per Dorothy’s wishes, a small service of Internment will be held Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. at Roselawn Mausoleum in McAllen, TX. In lieu of flowers she requested that contributions be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Funeral services have been entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
