Edelmiro Jose Villarreal, 85, passed away on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at Amara Hospice in Edinburg. He was born on a Thursday, March 19, 1936 in Benavides, Texas to Enrique Villarreal and Mauricia de los Santos Villarreal. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife; Beatriz Garza Villarreal, son; Carlos Noe Villarreal, brothers; Ramiro Enrique and Herberto Mario Villarreal and sister; Marta Beatriz Villarreal.
Edelmiro is survived by his daughters; Olga Alicia (Mike) Carranza and Melba Gloria (Hugo) Sotelo, grandchildren; Adrian M. (Lori) Carranza, Amanda (Felipe) Cantu and Larisa Sotelo, great grandchildren; Jayden and Rylan Cantu, sister; Alma Gloria Partida, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Edelmiro proudly served his country in the United States Army. He lived in Edinburg most of his life and co-owned City Auto Parts for 22 years with his brother in law; Julian Partida. He enjoyed writing poetry, gardening, traveling, dancing, and listening to music, but most importantly spending time with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all those whose lives he touched.
His family will receive friends today, Thursday, September 23, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a Rosary to be prayed at 6:00 PM in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Catholic Mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 24, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 501 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Military honors will be under the auspices of VFW Post #7473. Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers will be: Manuel Diaz, Xavier Rios, Reynaldo Lopez, Felipe Cantu, Victor Partida and Arnold Partida. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg, Texas. Funeral services have been entrusted to Johnny Garcia, Funeral Director/Manager of Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
