Elena Palomo

We will forever miss our dearest mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will no longer be with us for holidays and special occasions. Elena R. Palomo was born in Edinburg, Texas to Jose Ramos and Angelita Sanchez Ramos on Sunday, January 11, 1925. She entered eternal rest on Monday, September 3, 2018 at St. Luke's at Vintage Hospital in Houston, Texas at the age of 93 surrounded by her beloved children. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband; Jose C. Palomo, brothers and sisters.

Left to cherish her memories are her children Criselda (Neil) Palomo-Kaden, Jaime Palomo, Jose Samuel (Linda) Palomo, Patricia (Servando) Loya and Mario (Nanette) Palomo, 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Our mother was a woman of grace, dignity and beauty. She was devoted to her catholic faith and volunteered countless of hours to her church family at St. Edwards in Spring, Texas. She always took pride in her home and children and instilled in them to get an education. She taught her children to be loving, compassionate and resilient. She was loved and respected by all who knew her.

She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, crafting, shopping, reading the newspaper, gardening and had a love for nature and bird watching. She also loved to travel with her children and was always eager to learn, experience and participate in new endeavors. But her greatest joy was watching her grand children grow and attend their concerts, plays, sports events and simply spending time with them. She was their greatest cheerleader and advocate. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and all those whose life she touched.

Her family will receive friends today, Friday, September 7, 2018 from 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM with a Rosary to be prayed at 7:00 PM in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 E. Kuhn St., Edinburg. Catholic Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 9, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 501 E. Kuhn St., Edinburg. Catholic burial will follow to Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, 1701 E. Richardson Road in Edinburg. Having the distinguished honor to serve as pall bearers will be Daniel Palomo, James Palomo, Kevin Frost, Rolando Salinas, Ricardo Palomo, Frankie Joe Salinas, Derrick Diaz and James Grover. Funeral services have been entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
