Elodia Lopez

January 16, 1930 — March 17, 2013

Elodia “Loli” G. Lopez, 83, entered eternal rest on Sunday, March 17, 2013 at Edinburg Regional Medical Center in Edinburg. She was born in Agua Nueva, Texas on January 16, 1930 to Rev. Canuto Garcia, Sr. and Inocencia Farias Garcia. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband; Leonel Lopez, and son; Lemuel “Lemmy” Lopez, and brothers; Canuto (Elida), Jr. and Rufino Garcia. She lived in Edinburg all of her life and was a member of the Apostolic Church in Elsa, Texas.
Left to cherish her memories are her sons; Eliasib “Eli” (Melly) Lopez and Dr. Noel (Kathy) Lopez, daughter; Nilda (Jack) Alston, sisters; Raquel (Alfredo (+)) Balderas, Elizabeth “Chavela” (Ismael) Ramos, and Gloria Esther Garcia, sister-in-law; Teresa Garcia, grandchildren; Adrian Martinez, Sandy Jacuinde, Marcus Noel Lopez, Justin Noel Lopez, Dawn-Marie Lopez, Chelsea Lowman, Thomas Holt, Christina Noelle Lopez, Jaelyn Alston, Jordyn Alston, Joshua Roel Alston, Nicolas Lopez, Christopher Diego Lopez, and Rebecca Lopez, great-granddaughter; Maite Martinez, and numerous nieces and nephews, extended family members; Sylvia Alonzo, Michael Cantu, Miriam Keller, Eduardo Villarreal and many foster children that came through her home.
The Lopez and Garcia family will receive friends Thursday, March 21, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg. Family will gather at 9:00 a.m. at Baptist Temple Church, 2001 Trenton Road, McAllen, Texas for a 10:00 a.m. Christian service with Pastor Cesar Tamez officiating. Having the distinguish honor to serve as pallbearers will be her grandsons; Adrian Martinez, Marcus Noel Lopez, Justin Noel Lopez, Nicolas Lopez,  Christopher Diego Lopez, and Eduardo Villarreal; honorary pallbearer will be Joshua Roel Alston. Funeral services have been entrusted to her nephew; Johnny Garcia, Manager/Funeral Director of Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
