Elojio "Eloy" Garza, 73, entered eternal rest on Sunday, October 2, 2016, at McAllen Medical Center in McAllen. He was born on Wednesday, November 18, 1942 in Edinburg, Texas to Benigno Garza and Juanita Rodriguez Garza. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Martin and Ruben Garza.
Left to cherish his memories is his wife of 54 years; Teresa G. Garza, sons; Eloy "Bailey" (Elizabeth) Garza, Jr., Rene (Elena Sandoval) Garza, Ricardo (Leticia Zamora) Garza and Pete Garza, daughter; Sylvia (Roberto, Sr.) De Luna, brother; Bernardino (Refugia) Garza, sisters; Maria Gaitan and Rosa Maria (Enrique, Jr.) Ybarra, sisters-in-law; Vicky Garza and Ramona Garza, 14 - grandchildren, 2 - great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
He lived in Edinburg all of his life and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He enjoyed playing billards, cards, dominos, bingo, and doing jig saw puzzles. He enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys and was proud to be a truck driver for over 50 years. He worked for his father's company Ben Garza & Sons Trucking and his own company Eloy Garza & Sons trucking for many years. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all those whose lives he touched.
His family will receive family and friends today, October 4, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Catholic Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 122 West Fay Street in Edinburg. Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers will be Eloy Garza, III, Rene Garza, Jr., Diego A. De Luna, Fabian Garza, Rick A. Garza and Robert De Luna, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Bernardino Gaza and Roberto De Luna, Sr. Funeral services have been entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
