Eraclio “Eric” Edward Canales, Jr., 29, died on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 in Edinburg due to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. He was born on Wednesday, December 25, 1985 in San Juan, Texas to Eraclio Edward Canales and Imelda Partida Canales.
Eric is survived by his loving parents; best friend and companion, Marissa Segura; brother, Derrick Canales; sister, Erica Canales; great grandmother; Claudia Elizondo; uncle, Ignacio Chavez; his childhood friends, Victor Chavez, Hernan Mireles, Steven Cruz, Reymundo Martinez, Mando Rangel, Danny Soto, Daniel Carrasco, Oscar Perez, David Gosalvez and Robert Tijerina, and host of family and friends.
Eric lived in Edinburg all of his life and was a 2004 graduate of Edinburg North High School. He also graduated from college with a Bachelor degree in Biology and taught for a little while, but his passion was to become a nurse and he recently graduated with his Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. He had just signed his contract to start working with the South Texas Health System at Edinburg Regional Hospital and McAllen Medical Hospital.
Eric was a very gifted young man and artist at heart, he was very adventurous and enjoyed fishing, hunting and Crossfit. He was a founding member of the Crossfit Grande Valley and made many friends along the way with his contagious smile. His greatest joy was spending time with his brother and sister. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all those whose lives he touched.
His family received friends on Friday, June 12, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with a service Celebrating his life at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. A Christian service will be held today, Saturday, June 13, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home. Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers will be his brother, sister and his childhood friends. Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg is in charge of funeral services.
