Ermelinda L. Salinas

Ermelinda S. Salinas, 91, went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 in McAllen. She was born on Friday, February 1, 1924 in Los Ebanos, Texas to Luciano Lara and Camila Reyna Lara. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, George Salinas, Sr.; son, George Salinas, Jr.; 4 – sisters and 2 – brothers.

Left to cherish her memories are her children; Rene Salinas, Natividad Salinas, Aminta “Amy” (Cosme, Jr.) Martinez, Irene (Amador) Perez, and Maria Irma “Mimi” (Ricardo) Tijerina; sisters, Esperanza Garcia and Santana Hernandez; brothers, Benito Tijerina and Julian Lara; 17 – grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Ermelinda was a Eucharist Minister for many years at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Faysville until her illness. She had a strong faith and was always giving and active to her church and community. She enjoyed gardening, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She is now reunited with her husband George whom she missed and loved so much. Even though she will be missed by her family and friends, they know that someday they will be reunited with her, but until then, May God hold her in the palms of his hands.

Her family received friends on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with a Holy Rosary prayed at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Catholic Mass will be held today, May 28, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 501 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Catholic burial will follow to Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, 1701 East Richardson Road in Edinburg. Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers will be Jim Ramon, Blas Gonzalez, Jacob Ramon, Rick Tijerina, Jr., Andrew Gonzalez and Samuel Ramon. Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg is in charge of funeral services.
