Eugenio “Gene” Torres, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, June 24, 2012 at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg. He was born November 11, 1943 in Donna, Texas to Basilio Torres and Merced Loya.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sister; Virginia Ybarra.
Mr. Torres is survived by his wife of 36 years; Cynthia R. Torres, sons; Alberto Basilio Torres, Robert Adrian Torres, and Eugene (Candance) Torres, Jr., brother; Reynaldo (Janie) Torres, sister; Margarita (Federico) Escamilla, 3 grandchildren; Madyson Renae Torres, Ethan Glenn Torres and Krysten Nicole Torres, numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Torres had lived in Edinburg for the last 36 years, he was a Mercedes High School graduate Class of 1962. He worked for Tamayo House in Harlingen and for Man Power/ Workforce Solution in the Edinburg/Elsa/Weslaco area for 29 years until his retirement in July 2007. He loved to bar-b-que and made an excellent potato salad. He enjoyed fishing, but his greatest love of all was spending time with this grandkids. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be missed by all those who knew him. A special “Thank You” to Life Care Hospital –North/ DHR ICU 2nd Floor.
The Torres Family will receive friends today, Tuesday, June 26, 2012 from 3:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg. A Christian Mass will be held Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Christian burial will follow to Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg, TX. Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers; Lalo Rios, Ricky Rios, Arnold Rios, Jaime Torres, Armando Ybarra, and Xavier Rios. Funeral services have been entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
