Edinburg – Eva Ester Hinojosa, 98, entered eternal rest on Sunday, January 8, 2017 at her residence. She was born on Monday, September 30, 1918 in Cipres, Texas to Fabian Hinojosa and Jacinta Hinojosa. Eva is preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Federico, Adan, Hector, and Arturo.
Left to cherish her memories is her niece; Norma L. Cardona, nephews; Judge Federico Hinojosa, Jr., Ricardo Hinojosa, and Arturo Hinojosa, Jr. She is also survived by grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she volunteered for many years. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, painting, writing, and gardening. She also enjoyed searching family genealogy and ranching. Eva worked for many years at Vela-Mora Store and at Benny’s Dry Goods store until her retirement. The family would like to give a special “Thank You” to Alicia Z. Elizondo, Dolores Zapata, and Manuela Puga for all the special care provided to Eva for so many years.
The family will receive friends today, Wednesday, January 11, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Catholic Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 501 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Catholic burial will follow to Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 3605 North Taylor Road in McAllen.
Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers will be: Ricardo Hinojosa, Jr., Gabriel Hinojosa, Isaac Hinojosa, David Cardona, Jr., Matthew Cardona, and Aaron Powell. Funeral services have been entrusted to Johnny Garcia, Manager/Funeral Director and staff of Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
