Evangelina “Tia Nina” Elizondo Almendarez, 52, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, June 24, 2010 at Edinburg Regional Medical Center in Edinburg. She was born on September 08, 1957 in Rosebud, Texas to Gregorio H. Elizondo and Emma Torres.
She is survived by her brothers, Elias (Maria) Elizondo, Preciliano Elizondo, Noe Elizondo, Jorge Luis (Norma) Elizondo, Carlos Cesar (Belinda) Elizondo, and Daniel (Eva) Elizondo, sisters; Estella (Juan) Cantu and Dora (Lupe) Pena; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brother; Paulo Elizondo, sisters; Auroro Epifania Elizondo and Eunice Canales, and sister-in-law; Gloria Elizondo.
She was a graduate of Edinburg High School, Class of 1977. Evangelina was a provider for over 8 years and always loved to take care of her family. “Tia Nana” as she was known, loved all her nieces and nephews as if they were her own and was a loving mentor to all of them. She was friendly and outgoing, a “free spirit”. Even though she has passed away, she will always live in the hearts of her family. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 27, 2010 from 10:00 a.m.—9:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg with a prayer service to be held at 7:00 p.m. Christian services will be held on Monday, June 28, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg. Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers will be her brothers; Elias, Preciliano, Noe, Jorge Luis, Carlos Cesar and Daniel. Honorary pallbearers will be her nieces and nephews. Funeral services have been entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home.
