Evangelina “Eva” R. Sanchez, 74, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at Edinburg Regional Medical Center in Edinburg. She was born on August 29, 1940 in Edinburg, Texas to Manuel Rodriguez and Albesa Gamboa Rodriguez. She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Luis Rodriguez, Pedro Rodriguez and Juan Rodriguez (twin); sisters, Guadalupe Rodriguez and Juana Rodriguez (twin).
She is survived by her sons, Francisco Garza and Quint “Adam” (Colette) Rogers; daughter, Elena (Jaime) Sanchez – Guzman; grandchildren, Megan Elizabeth Guzman and Jaime Guzman, Jr., brothers, Vicente Rodriguez and Manuel “Meme” Rodriguez, numerous nieces and nephews.
Eva worked as a nurse at Edinburg General Hospital throughout the 60’s – 70’s. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. She was a Den mother for brownies and girls scout troops. She enjoyed doing word search puzzles, gardening and decorating her home with themes for each season. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends and all those whose lives she touched.
Her family will receive friends today, April 10, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Christian Mass will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 501 East Kuhn Street. Christian burial will follow to Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, 1701 East Richardson in Edinburg. Having the distinguish honor to serve as pallbearers will be Francisco Garza, Quint “Adam” Rogers, Jaime Guzman, Jaime Guzman, Jr., Manuel “Meme” Rodriguez, Jr. and Jesse Gutierrez. Funeral services have been entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
