Evangelina "Eva" B. Silva, 87, entered eternal rest on Monday, October 29, 2018 at Edinburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Edinburg. She was born on Monday, February 14, 1931 in Margo Ranch, Starr County, Texas to Antonio Benavidez and Victorina Garcia Benavidez. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband; Heriberto Silva, sisters; Andrea (Gumencindo) Laurel and Ernestina Benavidez, daughter-in-law; Linda Silva.
Eva is survived by her children; Dalia (Samuel) Garza, Heriberto Rey (Fiancee Sonia Rodiguez) Silva, and Homero (Yvonne) Silva, brother; Benito (Emma) Benavidez, grandsons; Nicholas Garza and Hunter Silva, numerous nieces and nephews.
Eva enjoyed sewing, quilting, cleaning, cooking and baking. She loved her grandsons and she help care for many of her family members. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends and all those whose lives she touched. Her family would like to say "Thank You" to the Edinburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center staff and especially to Mary Hernandez for the care they provided for their mother. They would also like to say "Thank You" to the Alvarado Family for all the love and support they gave their mother throughout her life.
The Silva family will receive friends on Thursday, November 1, 2018 from 3:00 PM - 9:00 PM with a Rosary to be prayed at 7:00 PM in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Catholic Mass will be celebrated on Friday, November 2, 2018 at 10:00 AM at San Isidro Catholic Church in San Isidro. Catholic burial will follow to Hilario Alvarado Cemetery in San Isidro. Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers will be: Nicholas Garza, Hunter Silva, Lalo Alvarado, III, Barney Benavidez, Gume Laurel and Abel Beltran. Honorary pallbearers will be: Samuel Garza, David Alvarez, Benito Benavidez, Joe Benavidez and Hilario "Lalo" Alvarado, Jr. Funeral services have been entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
