Felix Solis

Felix “Papo” Solis, 91, died peacefully and surrounded by his family on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at Mission Regional Medical Center.  He was born on May 2, 1919 in New Braunfels, Texas to Isabel and Evangelina Solis.

Mr. Solis is preceded in death by his parents, sons; Felix Solis, Jr., Jose Santos Solis, daughters; Gloria Solis, Carmelita Solis, brothers; Merced Solis, Teodoso Solis, Isabel Solis, Jr., sisters; Francisca Alvarado, Beatriz De Leon, and Jacinta Borrego.

Left to cherish his memories is his loving wife of 65 years; Margarita V. Solis, son; Carlos “Charlie” (Ruth) Solis, daughters; Lydia (Andres) Perez, Olga (Homero) Soto, Diana (Andres) Romero, brothers; Jose “Pepe” Solis, Aroldo Solis, sister; Maria Amendariz, 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Solis worked as a rancher and a farmer for most of his life.  He enjoyed playing pool, building birdhouses, tending to his garden, watching baseball games, but his favorite pastime was sharing stories of his life to his loved ones.  Felix “Papo” Solis was a loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather who will be dearly missed by all of his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.  He will forever be in our hearts.  Special “Thank you” to Mission Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Mission Regional Medical Center, Dr. Alcides Amador and special friend, Miguelito Chapa.

The Solis Family received friends Thursday, January 6, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with a rosary prayed at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.  Christian Mass will be held today, Friday, January 7, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg.  Christian burial will follow to Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg.  Having the distinguished honor of serving as pallbearers are Michael Soto, Christopher Soto, Zakery Soto, Omar Perez, Sean Romero, and Rick Sauceda.  Funeral services have been entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.  You can visit his obituary online at www.ceballos-diaz.com.
