Fernando “Fred” Alvarez, Jr., 43, entered eternal rest on Sunday, January 23, 2022 at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg, Texas. He was born on a Friday, November 17, 1978 in Weslaco, Texas to Fernando Alvarez, Sr. and Irma Trevino Alvarez.
Fred is survived by his parents; Fernando (Ana) Alvarez, Sr. and Irma Alvarez, sisters; Marilizza (Monica) Ruiz and Giselli (Robert) Talamantes, brother; Marco Antonio (Faith) Peralta and nephew; Matthew Rosas.
Fred lived in Edinburg most of his life and was a graduate of Edinburg North High School class of ’97. He was affectionately known as “Buffalo” to his friends. Fred was known for being very friendly and sociable. He was a great uncle to Matthew and enjoyed cooking. He even owned and operated his own food truck; “Spanky’s”. He loved to fish and enjoyed playing the trombone and drums. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.
His family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM with a Rosary to be prayed at 6:00 PM in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Catholic mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 501 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg, Texas. Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers will be: Joe Trevino, Rudy Rodriguez, Frank Salinas, Fernando Chapa, Patrick Stockwell, Joel Ledesma, Gilbert Martinez and Javier Villarreal. Honorary pallbearer will be: Christopher Cantu. Funeral services have been entrusted to Johnny Garcia, Manager/Funeral Director and staff of Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home.
