Francisca “Licha” Elisa Trevino, 79, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at her home in Edinburg, Texas on Friday, July 15, 2016. Francisca was born in Linn, Texas on Saturday, October 10, 1936 to Benigno Sauceda and Francisca Rodriguez. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband; Daniel R. Trevino, parents; Francisca and Jose L. Rodriguez, sisters; Carmen Saucedo, Maria Amelia Rodriguez and Maria Aurora Rodriguez. She was raised in Edinburg and attended Edinburg schools. While she only went up to middle school, she was an ardent champion of education for her children and an excellent money manager.
She married the love of her life, Daniel R. Trevino, on Sunday, May 26, 1963. Left to cherish her memories are daughters; Janie Trevino, Laura Trevino and Frances Trevino, son; Daniel Trevino, Jr., granddaughter; Marie Nicole “Nikkie” Rivera, who was her ray of sunshine, brothers; Julian (Dora) Rodriguez, Jose (Rosie) Rodriguez, Paul (Dora) Rodriguez, Felix (Rosalinda) Rodriguez, uncle; Domingo (Lupe) Rodriguez, aunt; Gertrudes (Israel) Fernandez, numerous nieces, nephews and her loyal companion, her corgi mix “Jasmine”.
Francisca was a responsible, resourceful, hardworking individual. Before her marriage, she would care for young children and worked in the fields with her family. After marriage, she dedicated all her love and attention to her husband and children. Her family was the pride and joy of her life and her legacy will live on in her family’s hearts.
Her family will receive family and friends on Tuesday, July 19, 201 from 3:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Catholic Mass will be held on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 501 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Catholic burial will follow to El Cibolo Cemetery in north Edinburg. Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers will be Daniel Trevino, Jr., Ricardo Ramos, Homero Ramos, Alfredo Ramos, Felix Rodriguez, II and Christopher Dominguez. Honorary pallbearers will be Alejandro Saucedo, Randy Rodriguez, Marcos Rodriguez and J.J. Rodriguez. Funeral services have been entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
