Gerarda “Lala” Navarro, 95, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, July 4, 2015, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Fred, III and Diana Perez, surrounded by her loved ones. Lala was born to Juan Lopez and Rosa Garcia Lopez in Santa Cruz Ranch in Starr County, Texas on October 16, 1919.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Reynaldo Navarro; parents; brothers, Domingo (Maria Lilia) and Pedro Lopez; sisters, Santos (Victor) Lopez, Cecilia (Francisco) Vecchio and Julia (Margarito) Garcia.
Lala is survived by her children; Diana (Fred, III) Perez of Edinburg, Texas, R. Richard Navarro of Fresno, California and Dalia (David) Salinas of La Joya, Texas; grandchildren, Lisa (Jorge) Alvarez, Litsa M. Perez and Fred (Monica) Perez, IV; great grandchildren; Ariana Aleen and Andrew Jacob Alvarez; brother, Horacio “Lacho” (Irma) Lopez; sisters, Fidencia (Angel (+)) Salazar, Maria Luisa (David (+)) Mosqueda; sister-in-law, Raquel Lopez and numerous nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed by all those whose lives she touched, but her legacy will continue through the lives of her family.
Her family wishes to express a special “Thank You” to Hospice Compassionate Care Services for the wonderful care they provided to their Mother during her time of need and the loving kindness expressed to the entire family.
The family received friends on Monday, July 06, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary prayed at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Catholic Mass will be held today, Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 501 East Kuhn Street, with her nephew, Fr. Joey Salazar officiating. Catholic burial will follow to Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Edinburg. Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers are her nephews, Albert Mosqueda, Noe Navarro, Arnold Diaz, Raul Navarro, Ricky Garcia and John Trevino; honorary pallbearers are; Fred Perez, III, David Salinas, Richard Navarro, Fred Perez, IV, Jorge Alvarez and Andrew Jacob Alvarez. Funeral services have been entrusted to Johnny Garcia, Manager/Funeral Director of Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
