Hector Garcia

Hector Garcia, 79, entered eternal rest on Friday, July 1, 2016 at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg. He was born on Wednesday, April 21, 1937 in La Sal Colorada Ranch in Starr County to Benjamin Garcia and Cruz Diaz Garcia. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother; Herberto Garcia and brother-in-law; Agustin Olivarez Garcia.
Hector is survived by his loving daughters; Thalia Garcia Sanchez, of McAllen and Leticia M. Garcia Nadeau, of Austin, Texas, 4 - grandchildren; Selina Sanchez, Andrea Sanchez, Garrett Nadeau and Sydney Nadeau, brother; Homero (Gloria C.) Garcia, of Weslaco, Texas, sister; Araceli Garcia, of Edinburg, sister-in-law; Bertha Garcia, of McAllen, nephew/caretaker; Mario (Liza) Garcia, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins who he played a big part of their lives.
Hector graduated from San Isidro High School in 1957 where he played football and went on to attend Pan American College in 1958. Soon after, Hector became active with the Texas National Guard. Hector started his career in retail with Globe & Valley Mart Stores and then advanced into the retail management where he held a position with M. Rivas Grocery Stores until his retirement. He was an outdoor enthusiast who enjoyed hunting, fishing and sharing his experiences with his family and friends. Hector had a beautiful character, he loved bar-b-quing and sharing funny jokes as well as getting to know his extended families far and near. There was never a person who met Hector that did not become a good friend for life. He will be truly missed by his family, friends and all those whose lives he touched.
His family will receive friends today, Tuesday, July 5, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Catholic Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at 10:00 a.m., 501 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. In lieu of flowers, family is requesting donations to be made in memory of Hector Garcia to the Juan Diego Academy in Mission, Texas or charity of your choice. Funeral services have been entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
