The Honorable Judge Hector J. Villarreal, “I’m ready to meet my maker. Whether my maker is prepared for the great ordeal of meeting me is another matter.” – Winston Churchill

In true “Hector-style”, The Honorable Judge Hector Jose Villarreal chose to leave this world when he was ready. (Not when others expected him to.) Content and at peace with his life and many accomplishments, He passed away early Sunday morning, July 10, 2011 at McAllen Medical Center.

Judge Hector J. Villarreal spent most of his life defending and helping those in need. In the courtroom he saved people’s lives and he was once Honored by the City of Edinburg for saving a man’s life; pulling his body from a burning truck. He was a father, brother, husband, cowboy, A Marine, mentor, friend, and an incredible attorney.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Anita and Everto A. Villarreal, Sr., brothers; Javier and Bernardo Villarreal.

He is survived by his four children; Mireya (Matthew) Villarreal-Gideon of San Antonio, Gabriel Villarreal of Edinburg, Marco Villarreal of Pharr, and Durango Villarreal of Edinburg; brothers; Everto “Beto” A. Villarreal, Jr. of Edinburg, Daniel (Norma) Villarreal of Edinburg, Jose Andres (Rachel) Villarreal of McAllen, sister; Dr. Linda (Don) Villarreal.

Judge Hector J. Villarreal live life to the fullest, always took chances, and never had any regrets. That is what made him great.

His family asks that you come celebrate his life, as he would have wanted. Visitation will be held today, July 12, 2011 from 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg, we will continue visitation from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 215 N. 16th St., Edinburg, Texas. Christian Mass will be celebrated on July 13, 2011 at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Christian burial with Military honors will follow to Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery, 2520 South Inspiration Rd., Mission, Texas. In lieu of flowers, family request that donations be made to: Edinburg Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 1079, Edinburg, Texas, 78540 in memory of: “Honorable Judge Hector J. Villarreal”.
