Heriberto “Beto” Silva, 83, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at Veranda Rehabilitation and Health Care in Harlingen. He was born December 17, 1927 in San Juanito Ranch, Starr County, Texas to Eusebio Silva and Francisca Silva.
Mr. Silva is preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Lalo and Tavo Silva, and sister; Francisca Farias.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 57 years; Evangelina B. Silva, sons; Heriberto Rey (Linda) Silva, Homero (Yvonne) Silva, daughter; Dalia (Samuel) Garza, sister; Elida (David) Alvarez, brother-in-law; Abel Farias, grandsons; Nicholas Garza and Hunter Silva, numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Silva served on the San Isidro School Board for over 25 years and served as President for 15 years. He worked for Osborn Aires Oil Company for over 17 years until his retirement. He enjoyed hunting. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in San Isidro. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be truly missed by all those whose lives he touched.

The Silva Family will receive friends, Friday, August 19, 2011 from 3:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg. Christian mass will be held, Saturday, August 20, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at San Isidro Catholic Church, San Isidro, Texas. Christian burial will follow to Alvarado Cemetery in San Isidro. Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers will be Hunter Silva, Joe Benavidez, Abel Beltran, Hilario “Lalo” Alvarado, Jr., Hilario “Lalito” Alvarado, III, Gumecindo “Gume” Laurel. Honorary pallbearers will be Benito Benavidez, Sam Garza, Nicholas Garza, David Alvarez, and Pablo Trevino. Funeral services have been entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
