Hilaria Diaz, 90, entered eternal rest on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at her residence in Austin, Texas. She was born on a Thursday, December 14, 1933 in Cotulla, Texas to George Carlos Ortiz and Petra Jaimes Ortiz. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; Urbano Diaz Jr., siblings; Juan Carlos Ortiz, Eduardo Ortiz, Eugenio Ortiz, Maria Ortiz, Roberto Ortiz and brother in law; Crescencio Aguilar.

She is survived by her loving children; Belinda Jo Angoori, Daniel Diaz, Leticia Freeman and Samuel (Eunice) Diaz, 11 grandchildren; Sarah (Chris) Llanas Angoori, Bianca (Davis) Blackmon Angoori, Jaclyn Diaz, Kristen Diaz, Madison Freemon, Anna (Trey) Freeman Hughes, Katie (Sean) Freeman Kelly, Sydney Diaz, Diego Diaz, Maya Diaz and Lisa Ortiz, 7 great grandchildren; Oliver Llanas Angoori, Nico Llanas Angoori, Sofia Moldes, Jalena Moldes, Marcelo Moldes, Abigail Hughes and Luke Hughes, siblings; Petra Aguilar, Fela (Joe) Carrillo, Catarina (Julian) De La Rosa, Matilda (Tim) Foster, Eduvigen (Jim) Thomas and brother; Trini Ortiz as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Hilaria worked for the Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District for over 30 years. Working as a beloved cafeteria lunch lady at schools such as North H.S., Economedes H.S. and Lincoln Elementary School. She was avid walker and reader but she especially loved spending time with her entire family becoming a loving grandmother spoiling her grandchildren. Hilaria will be missed by family, friends and all those whose lives she touched.

The Diaz family will receive friends on Thursday, October 17, 2024 from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM with a rosary to be prayed at 6:00 PM in the Chapel of Peace, Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street, Edinburg, Texas. Funeral service will be Friday, October 18, 2024 at 10:00 AM in the Chapel of Peace, Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home. Burial to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, 1701 East Richardson Road in Edinburg. Funeral services have been entrusted to Johnny Garcia, Funeral Director/Manager and staff at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home.
