Hilda C. Vera, 88, entered eternal rest on Thursday, December 22, 2022 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Brownsville. She was born on a Tuesday, August 21, 1934 in Raymondville, Texas to Antonio Cantu and Ignacia Fonseca Cantu. She is preceeded in death by her parents, husband; Rodolfo "Rudy" Vera, sisters; Elosia (Leon) C. Bernal, Trina C. (Francisco) Padilla, Esmeralda C. (Jose) Rosalez and Maria Cantu, brothers; Abel (Paula) Cantu and Osvaldo Cantu.
Hilda is survived by her son; Omar (Isabel) Vera, grandchildren; Matthew Luke Vera, Mila Vera and Rudy Vera, brothers; Favio (Antonia) Cantu and Ralph (Valeria) Garcia.
Hilda lived in Edinburg most of her life and was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. She helped her husband Rudy for a few years at Vera's Meat Market. Her greatest joy was spending time with her son and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family and all those whose lives she touched.
Her family will receive friends on Monday, December 26, 2022 from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM with a Rosary to be prayed at 6:00 PM in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Catholic Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1302 East Champion Street in Edinburg. Catholic burial will follow to Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, 1702 East Richardson Road in Edinburg. Funeral services have been entrusted to Johnny Garcia, Manager/Funeral Director and staff of Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home.
