Jose “Papa Che” M. Flores, 83, entered into eternal rest on Monday, January 23, 2012 at his residence in Edinburg, Texas. He was born May 13, 1928 in Guanajuato, Mexico to Eduardo Flores and Maria Moreno Flores.
Jose is preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Antonio Flores, Rosario Flores, Refugio Flores, and sister; Maria de Jesus Flores Nieto.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years; Ofelia M. Flores, daughters; Juanita (Rigoberto) Sanchez and Maria De Lourdes (Manuel) Lopez, sister; Seferina Flores, grandchildren; Angelina (Joe) Rivera, Joe Sanchez, Edwina (Rolando) Lerma, Vanessa (Gabriel) Garcia, Erida Lopez and Isaac Lopez, great-grandchildren; Thalia Rivera, Diego Rivera and Allessandra Lerma, numerous nieces and nephews.
Jose lived in Edinburg for 24 years and worked for California Western. He was a masseuse and great story teller. He was a jack of all trades. He loved to work with lumber, farming and caring for his animals. He enjoyed watching wrestling and reading the newspaper, but his greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He will be missed by all those whose lives he touched.
The Flores family will receive friends, Thursday, January 26, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg. Christian Mass will he held Friday, January 27, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Edinburg, TX. Christian burial will follow to Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg. Funeral services were entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
