Jose “Joe” Jackson, 62, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at Edinburg Regional Medical Center. He was born on May 26, 1952 to Santiago Jackson and Rosa Rico Jackson in Hereford, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Santiago Jackson, Jr. and Reynaldo Jackson.
He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Guadalupe “Lupita” E. Jackson; son, Christopher (Alexandra) Jackson; daughters, Ann M. (Miguel, Jr.) Jimenez, Guadalupe “GiGi” (Robert) Lira, Cecilia “CiCi” Jackson; brothers, Abel Jackson, Robert Jackson, Juan Jackson; sisters, Diana Mireles, Mary Rodriguez; grandchildren, Mark Anthony Jimenez, Matthew Adam Jimenez, Maxim Alexander Jimenes, Marla Anne Jimenez, Angela Lopez, Lonnie Hill, Robert Lira, Ryan Lira, Justice Lira, Mia Flores, Sofia Flores, numerous nieces and nephews.
Joe is a veteran who proudly served his country during the Vietnam War from 1971 to 1974. He loved to spend time in the outdoors and barbequeing. He will truly be missed by his friends, family, and all those whose lived he touched.
His family will receive friends Monday, August 11, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 E. Kuhn in Edinburg. Christian Mass will be held Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Edinburg. Christian burial with military honors under the auspices of V.F.W Post #8788 will follow to RGV State Veterans Cemetery in Mission. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to V.F.W. Post #8788 of McAllen. Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers will be Chris Jackson, Mark Jimenez, Adam Jimenez, Miguel Jimenez, Ruben Castillo, and Rene Estrada. Funeral Services have been entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
