Jose Joel Garcia

Jose Joel Garcia,Sr., 82, passed away on Friday, September 24, 2021 at his residence in Puerto Rico,Texas. He was born on a Thursday, July 13, 1939 in Cypress, Texas to Macario Garcia and Gregoria de los Reyes Garcia. He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters; Porfiria Garcia, Guillerma Castro and Isabel Mirelez and brother-in-law; Pablo Cavazos.
Jose is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Marcolfa Valdez Garcia, children; Nora Linda Garcia, Ricardo (Alicia) Garcia, Jose Joel (Leonor) Garcia, Jr., Jorge Luis (Cynthia) Garcia and Omar Macario (Erika) Garcia, sisters; Cipriana (Robert) Valdez, Ramona Garcia and Rafaela Cavazos, brother; Blas (Cassandra) Garcia, 9 grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews..
Jose proudly served his country in the United States Army. He lived in Puerto Rico, Texas all of his life and worked at Moorefield Air Base as a Biological Science Technician for 35 years. He enjoyed the outdoors, loved to do photography and most importantly spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all those whose lives he touched.
His family will receive friends today, Tuesday, September 28, 2021 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a Rosary to be prayed at 6:00 PM in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Catholic Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 501 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Catholic burial will follow at Valdez Cemetery, Puerto Rico, Texas. Military honors will be under the auspices of VFW Post #205. Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers will be: Jose Joel Garcia III, Juan Carlos Garcia, Eddie Valdez, Robert Valdez, Jr., Adan Marquez and Jesse Martinez. Funeral services have been entrusted to Johnny Garcia, Funeral Director/Manager of Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
