Jose Mata, Sr., 84, entered into eternal rest on Friday, July 5, 2013 at Comfort House in McAllen. He was born April 28, 1929 in Hidalgo, TX to Anastacio Mata and Martha Moreno Mata.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife; Juanita Cantu, sisters; Guadalupe M. Mendez, Gloria M. Guerra and Maria Marta M. Tanguma.
He is survived by his sons; Jose Mata, Jr., Jorge Mata, daughter; Maria Elena (Mario) Garza, sisters; Rafaela M. (Amado) Guzman, Florinda M. (Ramiro) Lara, Hortencia M (Ruben) Garcia, Maria Martha T. Sierra, 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
The Mata Family will receive friends Monday, July 8, 2013 from 3:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg. A Christian mass will he held Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Christian burial will follow to Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr, TX. Funeral services were entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home.
