Josefina Hernandez, 89. Our beloved mother passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2024 at her home in Edinburg. She was born on a Saturday, November 3, 1934 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Arnulfo Gaitan and Magdalena Sanchez Gaitan. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband; Cesario Hernandez, sons; Rene Carlos Hernandez and Richard Cesario Hernandez, daughters; Rose Marie Gutierrez and Rebecca Magdalena (Apolinar, Jr.) Rodriguez, siblings; Jesse Gaitan, Joe Gaitan, Jaime Gaitan, San Juana Gaitan and Geneva Hernandez.
Left to cherish her memories are her children; Rosalie (Brent) Mangum and Robert Cesar Hernandez, daughters-in-law; Rocisela Hernandez Sanchez and R.C. Hernandez, sister; Jesusita "Susie" Guzman,14 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
Josefina enjoyed sewing, embroidering and dancing. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family and all those whose lives she touched.
Her family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 from 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. There will be a Christian service held at 1:00 PM and burial will follow to Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, 1701 East Richardson Road in Edinburg. Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers will be: Robert Hernandez, Jr., Richard Hernandez, Jr., Javier Hernandez, David Ramirez, Albert Gutierrez, Cesario Hernandez, Rene Hernandez, Jr. and Juan Gutierrez. Funeral services have been entrusted to Johnny Garcia, Manager/Funeral Director and staff of Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home.
