Juan Rogelio Mendoza, Sr., 90 entered eternal rest on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at his residence in Edinburg, Texas. He was born on a Thursday, March 30, 1933 in Weslaco, Texas to Jose Mendoza and Juanita DeLeon Mendoza. Juan is preceded in death by his parents, wife; Guadalupe V. Mendoza, sister; Rosa Cantu, sister in law; Alicia Mendoza and brother in law; Enrique Quintero.
Juan is survived by his loving children; Roberto (Juanita) Villarreal, Juan Rogelio (Lily) Mendoza, Jr., Ana (Leonardo) Espinoza, Aida Mendoza, Armalinda (Rosella Tavarez) Mendoza, Rolando (Susana) Mendoza and Gloria Mendoza, brother; Ruben Mendoza, Sr., sister; Cristina Ramona Quintero and brother in law; Daniel Cantu, 15 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Juan proudly served in the United States Army and was a Korean War Veteran. He was a farmer who worked for Griffin and Brand, worked in Cotton Gin in Cone, Texas and was employed by Tide Company in Edinburg for 12 years. Those who knew Juan knew he was a jack of all trades. He loved his family and will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all those whose lives he touched.
The Mendoza family will receive friends on Sunday, May 14, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a rosary to be prayed at 6:00 PM in the Chapel of Peace, Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn, Edinburg, Texas. Catholic mass will be celebrated on Monday, May 15, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1302 East Champion in Edinburg. Catholic burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, 1701 East Richardson Road, Edinburg. Military honors will be provided by the VFW Post #7473 from Elsa, Texas. Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers will be: Rolando Mendoza, Roland Michael Mendoza, Samantha Mendoza, Brandon Lopez, Andrew Mendoza, Jr., John Fernandez and Matthew Castillo. Honorary pallbearers will be: Leonardo Espinoza and Juan Rogelio Mendoza, Jr. Funeral services have been entrusted to Johnny Garcia, Manager/Funeral Director and staff at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn in Edinburg.
