Juanita Isabel de Leon

Juanita “Janie” Isabel de Leon, 83, entered eternal rest on Thursday, June 17, 2021 at her residence in Edinburg. She was born in Marion, Texas on a Sunday, October 24, 1937 to Simon Arriaga de Leon and Juanita Almanza de Leon. She is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Consuelo Rangel.
Left to cherish her memories are her brothers; Simon (Florine) de Leon, Jr., Alfonso (Gloria) de Leon, Luis de Leon and Tiburcio “Butch” (Oralia) de Leon. She is also survived by 15 nieces and nephews.
Juanita or “Janie” as she was affectionately called lived in Edinburg most of her life and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church for many years. Her passion for learning and teaching led Janie to be an Educator and Counselor for over 40 years with several school districts, including Edinburg Consolidated ISD, Austin ISD and Mission ISD. While knowing that educating and counseling played a huge role in Janie’s life, she knew when to relax and traveled whenever she could. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all those whose lives she touched.
Her family will receive friends Sunday, June 27, 2021 from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM with a Rosary to be prayed at 6:00 PM in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Catholic Mass will be celebrated on Monday, June 28, 2021 at 12:00 PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 501 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Catholic burial will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 3601 North Taylor Road, Mission, Texas. Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers will be: Jeremy P. Rangel, Alex de Leon, Ricardo J. Rangel, Fernando de Leon, Carlos de Leon, Ralph de Leon and Cris de Leon. Funeral services have been entrusted to Johnny Garcia, Manager/Funeral Director and Staff of Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home.
