Leonel Guerra, 85, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, June 10, 2012 at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg. He was born August 19, 1926 in Brooks County, Texas to Gonzalo Guerra and Porferia Gomez Guerra.
Mr. Guerra is preceded in death by his previous wife; Carlota Guerra, parents; Gonzalo and Porferia Guerra, brother; Lazaro Guerra, and step-son; Randy Garcia.
He is survived by his wife; Estella Guerra of Edinburg, seven sons, David Guerra of Edinburg, Leonel Guerra, Jr., of Austin, TX, Roy (Nora) Guerra of South Houston, TX, Eden Guerra of Edinburg, Jose (Sylvia) Guerra of Edinburg, Onofre Guerra of Buda, Texas, and Eduardo (Alicia) Guerra of Edinburg, TX; a daughter, Elsa (Joe) Gutierrez of Edinburg; four brothers, Rene Guerra, Gonzalo Guerra and Lisandro Guerra all of Edinburg, and Luz Guerra of West Richland, WA; two sisters, Lydia Pulido of Edinburg and Maria Gomez Balderas of Fresno, CA; step-children, Ronnie (Rebecca) Garcia and Pam (Rick) Salazar; 18 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
The Guerra family will receive friends today, Tuesday, June 12, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg. A Christian Mass will be held on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Christian burial will follow to Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg, Texas. Having the honor of serviing as pallbearers were Rey Guerra, Aaron Guerra, Joe Michael Guerra, Eric Guerra and Eddie Guerra, Jr. Funeral services have been entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
