Leonel Ramiro Parras

Brownsville/Edinburg -  Leonel Ramiro Parras, 84, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at McAllen Medical Center in McAllen. He was born on May 20, 1930 to Francisco Parras and Adela Fuentes Parras in Rio Grande City, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Victor and Larry.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 58 years, Carmen M. Parras; daughter, Elizabeth A. Parras; sons, Leonel A. Parras, Sergio A. (Natalya) Parras, and Ricardo A. (Kelly) Parras; brothers, Francisco (Eloisa) Parras and Antonio (Mona) Parras; sisters, Elva Vela, Lupita Galvan, Teresa (Eleazar) Pena, Emma Salinas, and Margaret Parras; sister-in-laws, Candi Parras and Nena Parras; grandchildren, Eddie, Heaven, Sergio Daniel, Chelsea, Caitlin, Krystle, Noel, and Alexa; and great-grandchildren, Adalyn, Marco, and twins Kayden and Tristan.

Leonel proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He and his wife were the owners of Mr. Amigo Restaurant in Brownsville, TX for over 25 years. He was also the manager of the Brownsville Civic Center, and was actively involved in the Mr. Amigo Association and the International Good Neighbor Council. He will be truly missed by his family, friends and all those whose lives he touched.

The Parras family will receive family and friends today, Sunday, March 15, 2015, from 5:00pm- 9:00pm with a Rosary to be prayed at 7:00pm in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg. A Catholic Mass will be held on Monday, March 16, 2015 at 9:30am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Internment with full military honors will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission, TX. Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers will be Leonel A. Parras, Sergio A. Parras, Ricardo A. Parras, Noel F. Avitia, Rolando R. Avitia and Juan J. Guerra. Funeral Services have been entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
