Librada Torres, 82, entered into eternal rest on Monday, September 24, 2012 at Edinburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born August 17, 1930 in Edinburg, Texas to Encarnacion Torres, Sr., and Anita Vallecillo Torres.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers; Encarnacion Torres, Guadalupe Torres, Natividad Torres and Fidel Torres, sisters; Victoria Torres and Juanita Torres, sisters-in-law; Emma Torres, Felicitas Torres, and brother-in-law; Esteban Arteaga.
Librada is survived by her brothers; Teofilo Torres and Rodolfo (Tina) Torres, sisters; Aurora Arteaga, Ancelma Partida, numerous nieces and nephews.
LIbrada was a member of the choir at the Basilica Church in San Juan and of the Resurrection Catholic Church choir in Alamo. She was also a Chaplain and Historian for the Lady Auxiliary Post #408 Freddy Gonzalez. She loved to take pictures participate in posadas, but her greatest love of all was spending time with her nieces and nephews. She will truly be missed by all those whose lives she touched.
The Torres family received friends today, September 25, 2012 from 3:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with a rosary prayed at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg. A Christian Mass was held Wednesday, September26, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Christian burial followed to Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Edinburg, TX. Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers; Michael Medrano, Candelario Arteaga, Rogelio Arteaga, Reynaldo Arteaga, Dustin Arteaga, Austin Arteaga and Rodolfo Torres. Funeral services were entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
