Lilia S. de los Santos, 94, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at Edinburg Regional Medical Center in Edinburg. She was born on June 15, 1916 in Fronton, Texas to Samuel Saenz and Maria Saenz Ramirez.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband; Regino de los Santos, son; Jesus Regino de los Santos, daughter; Maria Lilia Galvan, son-in-law; Oscar Galvan, brother-in-law; Seferino Pena, 5 brothers and 5 sisters.
She is survived by her granddaughter; Lilia Iris Galvan-Bueno, grandson; Oscar Omar Galvan, great grandson; Justin Regino Bueno, sister; Ella Saenz de Pena, and immediate family members whom she help raise as her own children; Dr. Miguel (Ofelia) de los Santos, Eladia (Ramiro) Gaitan, Esbelda Ramirez, Evangelina “Vita” de los Santos, and Emma (Juan, Jr.) Casas. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. de los Santos lived in Edinburg most of her life and was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. In 1967, she helped establish the Guadalupanas Society at Holy Family Catholic Church where she served as President for over 7 years. She loved to spend time with her children, grandchildren, and family. She was a devoted Christian whose faith was an inspiration to all who knew her; she will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched.
The family will receive friends today, April 7, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg. Christian mass will be held Friday, April 8, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church. Christian burial will follow to Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr. Having the distinguish honor to serve as pallbearers will be her nephews. Funeral services have been entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
