Mrs. Lucia A. Villarreal, 92, entered eternal rest on Sunday, February 19, 2012 at Legends Transitional Care Center in McAllen. She was born on December 13, 1919 in San Benito, Texas to Eusebio Aguilar and Inez Vasquez Aguilar. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband; Apolinar Villarreal, daughter; Maria Florestela Perez, and brother; Jose M. Aguilar.
She is survived by her granddaughter; Diana (Jason) Perez-Canal, grandsons; Cristian Pena, Tristan Canal, and Devon Canal, and brother; Enrique Aguilar.
She received her master degree in bilingual education from Texas A & I in Kingsville and was a bilingual teacher in La Villa I.S.D., Robstown I.S.D. and Our Lady of Perpetual Help until her retirement. After retirement, she owned and operated Ameritech Academy in Corpus Christi. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association in Corpus Christi.
Ms. Villarreal was a true Democrat and a strong supporter of President Barack Obama. She had a strong Catholic faith and was a member of Most Precious Blood Catholic Church in Corpus Christi. She was a very independent and self sufficient woman who touched many lives and will truly be missed by all those who knew her.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, February 23, 2012 from 2:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg. Christian mass will be held Saturday, February 25, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, 3502 Saratoga, Corpus Christi with Christian burial to follow to Seaside Memorial Park. Funeral services were entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
