Manuel “Meme” Arteaga, 55, entered into eternal rest on July 28, 2010 surrounded by his family at his residence in Edinburg. He was born on May 6, 1955 in Edinburg, Texas to Geronimo Arteaga, Sr., and Eufrecina Riojas.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Maria Antonia Arteaga, mother; Eufrecina Riojas, son; Luis Manuel Arteaga, daughter; Brenda Villegas, brothers; Domingo “Mingo” Arteaga, Felipe (Juanita) Arteaga, Bernardo “Nalo” (Julia) Arteaga, Alejandro (Natividad) Arteaga, Geronimo ( Laurie) Arteaga Jr., Martin “Cookie” Arteaga, Juan Diego “Chipo” Arteaga, sisters; Patricia Rodriguez, Dora A. (Jaime) Arevalo, and grandson; Enrique Alejandro Villarreal.
Manuel is preceded in death by his father and brother; Fortunato Arteaga.
Manuel was a very artistic person. He loved to do woodwork/ weld art and draw. He was a very calm person who loved to spend time with his family. He will be deeply missed by all his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.
Visitation for Manuel was held Friday, July 30, 2010, from 1:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg, with a prayer service held at 7:00 p.m. Christian services were held Saturday, July 31, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Temple Emmanuel in Alamo. Christian burial will follow to Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg. Having the honor of serving as pallbearers were Luis Arteaga, Homero Barrera, Martin Arteaga, Felipe Arteaga, Mingo Arteaga, and Lalo Arteaga. Funeral services have been entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
