Manuel D. Salazar, 83, entered eternal rest on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at Doctor’s Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg, TX. He was born on May 7, 1932 to Jose Felix Salazar and Estefana Davila Salazar in Mission, TX. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Francisco Salazar; sister, Maria Pena and brother-in-law, Antonio Pena.
Manuel is survived by loving his wife of 11 years, Maria De Los Angeles Salazar; children, Rosalinda (Kevin) Ervin, Raquel (Rigoberto) Salazar-Matamoros, Jesse David (Sandy) Salazar, Armando (Laurel) Salazar, Felix (Nikki) Salazar, Randy (Sue) Salazar, Vivian Elizabeth Rodriguez, Albert R. Salazar, Carl Jay Salazar; step-children, Dulce (Jose Cantu) Gonzalez, Angelica Maria (Aaron Altamirano) Gonzalez, Mario Humberto (Rosie) Gonzalez, Mauricio Andres Gonzalez, brothers, Reynaldo (Guadalupe) Salazar, Sr., Jose Felix (Mary) Salazar, Roy (Betty) Salazar, Hector Salazar; sisters, Juanita (Cristobal) Aleman, Sylvia (Ramiro) De La Garza, Cleotilde “Mable” Salazar; 44 – Grandchildren; 17 – Great-Grandchildren; Numerous nieces and nephews.
Manuel proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a recipient of the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He will truly be missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.
Family received friends on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 from 1:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with a celebration of his life held at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 E. Kuhn, in Edinburg. A service was held on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg. Burial with military honors under the auspices of the V.F.W. Post # 7473 of Elsa will follow to Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery, 2520 S. Inspiration Rd., Mission, TX. Funeral Services have been entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
