Margarita Lopez

Margarita Lopez,93, entered eternal rest on Sunday, October 18, 2015 at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg.  She was born in Lopeno, Texas on October 17, 1922 to Ignacio Ramirez and Martina Ramirez. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother and sisters, Alicia Ramirez, Elida R. Vela, Adelita Ramirez, Jovita R. Benavidez, Antonia R. Trevino, Amelia R. Serna, Gilberto Ramirez, Josefa R. Gracia, and her beloved husband Raul Lopez, Sr.

She is survived by her loving sons; Raul (Rosalinda) Lopez, Jr., Rodolfo (Belia) Lopez, Sr., Fidel (Josefa) Lopez, Sr., and Sergio (Belinda) Mandujano, daughter; Elvira (Richard) Villarreal, her brother-in-laws Lauro ( Juanita) Lopez, Arturo Ponce, her sister-in-law Petra L. Rodriguez and her eleven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

She and her husband were long time business people, they started a grocery business in Lopeno, Texas and moved to Edinburg in 1946 where they opened a grocery store which became a familiar landmark known as "La Tienda Amarilla". During hard times they extended credit to customers and delivered  the groceries to their doorsteps. It was truly a family business with their children participating in the daily operations of the store. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was an inspiration to all her family and friends. She will truly be missed by her family and all those whose lives she touched.

The Lopez family will receive friends today, Wednesday, October 21, 2015 from 5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 501 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Christian mass will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1302 East Champion Street in Edinburg. Catholic burial will follow to Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery on Taylor Rd. in McAllen.

A special thanks to Dr. Roberto Ruiz, Dr. Sobia Nasir, Step by Step Home Healthcare, and the nursing staff of Doctors Hospital at Renaissance. Further, we would like to give our sincere gratitude to her guardian angel Maria Concepcion “Conchita” Cruz for her love and dedication to our loved one.

Pallbearers will be Raul Lopez, III, Rudy Lopez, Fidel Lopez, Jr., Justin Mandujano, Thomas John Nowakowski, Matthew Mandujano, and Tristan Olivarez. Funeral services have been entrusted to Johnny Garcia and staff of Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
