Maria Emelia Castaneda

Maria Emelia “Emily” Castaneda, 65, went home to join our Lord on Sunday, August 5, 2018 at Mission Regional Medical Center. She was born on Monday, January 26, 1953 in Edinburg, Texas to Rogerio “Kelo” Salazar, Sr. and Guadalupe Lopez Salazar. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother; Ricard Salazar.
Emily is survived by her sons; Robert (Sonia) Cuellar and Jacob (Gina) Rodriguez, brother; Rogerio “Kelo” (Herlinda) Salazar, Jr., sisters; Idolina (Henry) Davis, Elizabeth “Lisa” (Matias) Flores and Irma (Tony) Pena. Also surviving are her grandchildren; Brianna Cuellar and Gabriela Cuellar, numerous nieces and nephews.
Emily worked for McAllen Home Care and Los Laureles Adult Day Care for many years. She was a loving and caring person who enjoyed helping her clients and friends. She was very social and enjoyed dancing and listening to music. She also enjoyed playing cards, gambling and playing “La Maquinitas”. She loved to cook and Shop and hand out with her “Breakfast Club” friends. Emily lived life to the fullest and with no regrets. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and all those whose lives she touched.
Her family will receive family and friends on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 from 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM with a Celebration of her life at 7:00 PM at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Funeral services have been entrusted to Johnny Garcia, Manager and Staff of Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
