Maria Elena Ramirez

Maria Elena Ramirez, 81, entered eternal rest on Monday, January 20, 2025 at McAllen Heart Hospital in McAllen, Texas. She was born on a Saturday, June 5, 1943 in La Lobera, Huanimaro, Guanajuato, Mexico to Nicanor Jaime and Maria Cruz Chavez-Jaime. She is preceded in death by her parents and her beloved grandson, Francisco Javier Fuentes, Jr.

Maria Elena or “Dona Elenita” as she was affectionately known is survived by her loving husband of 63 years; Eustaquio Ramirez, her children; Maria Elena (Lorenzo) Gaitan, Maribel (Felipe) Adriana, Miguel Angel (Arminda) Ramirez, Elvia (Francisco Javier) Fuentes, David (Alma Alicia) Ramirez, Rosaura (Jaime) Miranda, Patricia (Richard) Perez, Esmeralda (Raul) Gonzalez, Rosario (Rudy) Castilleja and Erica (Oscar Ruben) Salaiz, 28 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren 6 brothers, 3 sisters and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dona Elenita enjoyed many hobbies such as; sewing, gardening, crocheting, puzzles and sodoku. She loved watching all sports but especially boxing, soccer and baseball. A woman known for her strong and devoted faith she prayed the rosary daily. Raising her children, loving and caring for her family were the most important things for her to do. She will be missed by all those whose lives she caringly touched. The Ramirez family would like to thank the nurses and staff at McAllen Heart Hospital for the great care they gave their amazing mother.

The Ramirez Family will receive friends on Friday, January 24, 2025 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM with a rosary at 6:30 PM to be prayed in the Chapel of Peace, Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street, Edinburg, Texas. Funeral Mass to be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 12:00 PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 501 East Kuhn in Edinburg. Burial to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, 1701 East Richardson Road in Edinburg. Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers will be: Marco Anthony Adriana, Miguel Angel Ramirez, Felipe Jesus Gaitan, Ryan Christopher Fuentes, Andres Ramirez, Matthew Castilleja, Ruben Gonzales, Jr., Jonathan Daniel Gonzalez, Ricardo Javier Perez and Lucas Mateo Salaiz. Funeral services have been entrusted to Johnny Garcia, Funeral Director/Manager and staff at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
